    Associate Professor Kris. Rallah-Baker is Australia’s first and currently only Indigenous ophthalmologist. As a proud Yuggera/Warangu/Wiradjuri man, Dr Rallah-Baker is making a footprint not only on the Sunshine Coast, but also in the Northern Territory. Kris Rallah-Baker provides comprehensive ophthalmic care delivered in a culturally safe, compassionate and professional manner.

    Conjoint Pharmacist | School of Pharmacy University of Queensland | Princess Alexandra Hospital

    Karl is an Advanced Practice credentialed pharmacist (stage 3) with clinical pharmacy experience in a wide range of clinical areas including cardiology, general medicine and care of the elderly. Karl's research interests lie primarily in the clinical use of clozapine, and anticoagulants.

    With nearly two decades of experience as a Registered Nurse, and a Master of Nurse Practitioner completed in 2015, I bring a broad and dynamic background in acute and specialised care. Currently, I serve as a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner at Heart HQ, working alongside interventional cardiologist Dr. Stuart Butterly. In this role, I manage complex heart failure patients, provide pre- and post-procedural education for structural heart interventions, general cardiac assessments, and implant Insertable Loop Recorders (ILRs).

    Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon | Princess Alexandra Hospital

    Michael is a Staff Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon at the Princes Alexandra Hospital. Michael holds a conjoined Academic appointment at the University of Queensland with the title of Senior Lecturer. His clinical interests include re-animation of the upper limb in tetraplegia and brachial plexus injuries, surgery of the hand and wrist, complex lower limb reconstruction, craniofacial reconstruction and melanoma.

  • Matilda Schmidt

    Nurse Practitioner & Registered Midwife | RBWH

    Matilda is a Nurse Practitioner and Registered Midwife working in the Emergency and Trauma Centre at the RBWH for the last 17 years. She has a special interest in early pregnancy care, women’s health and sexual health and co-leads this portfolio within the ED. Matilda is passionate about providing holistic compassionate care within the chaotic ED environment especially for vulnerable women. She has also been working as part of the Sexual Assault Response Team as a forensic examiner for the past 5 years.

    Dr Jess Mills is an experienced children’s emergency specialist who currently works at both the Queensland Children’s Hospital and The Sunshine Coast University Hospital. She is driven and excited to help improve the care of sick and injured children wherever they may be, especially those outside of our major urban hospitals, and hopes you don't fall asleep during her talks!

    Adj Professor Shelley Nowlan, appointed as Queensland’s Chief Nurse Officer. Her distinguished career includes serving as the Queensland Chief Nursing and Midwifery officer for 7 years and the Australian Deputy National Rural Health Commissioner. Advocating strongly for the profession, rural and remote health her contributions in advancing nursing and midwifery professions have been significant.

  • Dr Joe Coory

    Dr Joe Coory

    Orthopaedic Surgeon | MBBS FRACS FAOrthA

    Dr Joe Coory is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training. He has a special interest in surgery of the Shoulder and Upper Limb including Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair, Shoulder Stabilisation, Total Shoulder Replacement as well as minimally invasive nerve decompressions of the upper limb such as Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release. Dr Coory has a professional desire to keep patients active and utilises advanced recovery techniques to get patients back in action sooner.
